What should I bring?

Weather in early October is typically delightful but variable, with daily low temperatures in the mid to upper 50s (13-15 Celsius), and maximum highs in the high 60s to mid 70s (18-24 C). We recommend packing clothing you can layer to accommodate shifts in temperature plus a hat and a rain jacket for the occasional showers. We'll also be doing a fair amount of walking so sturdy of walking/hiking shoes are essential.

What is the food like?
Food is one of our favorite parts about living in this part of Italy (and why some of us, ahem, no longer fit into our pre-Italy jeans). We encourage you to join us in eating like the locals here do, but realise that some things are hard to live without so we will do our best to be sure you're comfortable!
That said, breakfast usually consists of fresh fruit, bread and jam or a croissant and an espresso or cappuccino. To this we'll add yogurt or a simple omelet as requested, plus a caffe americano or cup of tea as desired. Lunches and dinners are often interchangeable and usually consist of at least two of the following courses: an anti-pasta, a pasta or grain dish (lagane e ceci, for example, but almost never risotto... we are firmly in the south), meat (occasionally fish, especially salt cod or baccalà) and seasonal vegetables, cheese (fresh buffalo mozzarella, caciocavallo, provolone, several wonderful local sheep or goats' milk cheeses) , fruit, and a dolce: a homemade crostata (think pie but less rich), pastiera (think cheesecake) or gelato. Since we are in the region where pizza was born, we'll also have a pizza night (considered a "light" dinner here but almost never eaten at lunch). We'll also travel with some snacks and possibly a picnic lunch for when we spend the day "in giro", stopping for the requisite caffe (espresso) when needed.
**Please be sure to use the registration form to tell us about any dietary restrictions or allergies. We want to be sure that you are well taken care of!
What major cities/attractions are you near and how do I get to you?
The major airport nearest us is Naples/Napoli (NAP), a little less than two hours away by car. Near this, the liveliest of Italian cities, there is the spectacular Amalfi Coast, Capri and Sorrento. Further south, and nearer to us, is the charming Salerno. Transfers from the airport in Napoli are included in your fee. We recommend against renting a car for the week you'll be with us as parking is limited, though we can help if you'd like to rent a car with which to continue exploring after your stay. The nearest rental agency for this would be AVIS in Sala Consilina.
What if I have to cancel my booking?
Once paid, your deposit is non-refundable. If you need to cancel for any reason, our refund structure is as follows:
Cancel by July 28, 2023: Full refund (minus the deposit amount).
If you cancel your booking between July 28 and August 28, you will get 50% of the balance (minus deposit) refunded. If cancellation occurs after August 28, no refund is offered. Any bank/PayPal charges will be deducted from the refunded amount.

What if you have to cancel the event?
If we have fewer than the minimum number of bookings 7 weeks before the event is due to start, we will cancel the event. Anyone who has booked will be notified immediately and a refund for 100% of the payment (including the deposit) will be issued. We do not refund any travel costs.
I'm not a painter, can I come anyway?
Of course! We have guides available for non-painters to make sure that you get to see and experience this under-travelled region but you are under no obligation to take part in the outings offered and we invite you to explore on your own or to simply relax.
